A few years ago I received a vision of being off the grid, in an atmosphere free from pollution from light, noise and radiation. In a place where mindfulness and sustainability created a bridge back the essence of being human, like how it used to be.
Created specifically for sleeping, this place would provide both the ideal setting for sleep at night, and a variety of activities during the day that all contributed to the healing of insomnia, from the basics of food to the intricacies of deep inner healing.
A place where people who need to sleep better but needed help, could retreat to.
The place was a small little pasture in a place called Utopia. I found it, and so I will build it.
Coming in 2022, The Utopia Sleep Retreat
Step In to simplicity,
The Utopia Sleep Retreat provides you the opportunity to heal your sleep, both now and in the future, all amidst the peace and beauty of the Texas Hill Country.
This retreat will support your sleep through 1 to 1 coaching, sleep workshops, group activities, local organic food, yoga, nightly sleep meditation sessions, and many more resources. But most of all, it will offer you the time and space to integrate it all.
By trading in everyday life for a week in Utopia, your body will experience the circadian reset, and your mind the conceptual change necessary to overcome insomnia.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This retreat has been carefully curated for the insomniac who has chronically struggled with sleep and feels like they are out of options. If this is you, the retreat experience will support your sleep, not just as an escape, but in transforming your relationship to sleep on the deepest level.
You will walk away from the retreat with a new understanding of your sleep and a tool box of new skills to take into your regular life. Most important to the insomniac though, this retreat is not just a place for you to honor sleep, but be supported to transpire in a new way if and when sleep doesn’t go as planned. Often times these moments yield the greatest sleep victories.
This sleep retreat cannot guarantee a transformation out of insomnia, no retreat can. But it will bring you the most thoughtful experience you can find related to sleep, by someone who care deeply about insomniacs and wants for them what he has experienced himself.
*Flights are not included* We recommend you land by 4pm on the Nov 1st to give yourself time to meet the group for dinner and introductions.
Fly into the San Jose airport in Alajuela (SJO airport code). From there you can take a shuttle to Hotel #TBD# (PS I am looking into hotels and costs, as well as shuttle options).We will meet for dinner, introductions and outline our process for the retreat.
WHAT is INCLUDED:
Nov 1st - Shuttle from the airport?? tbd
Nov 1st - Hotel in San Jose Night of Nov 1st
Nov 2nd - Breakfast in San Jose and transportation to the ecolodge on a private bus
Nov 2nd - We will arrive at the retreat centre for dinner
All meals and workshops at the retreat centre are included. *do we want this to be an alcohol free retreat... perhaps that is best*
1 lunch outing and swimming excursion is included, mid retreat
Nov 7th - Last day! Breakfast is included and transportation back to San Jose. Please inform us if you would like to stay longer at the retreat centre, Cascada Elysiana, or if you will be travelling elsewhere and do not need the shuttle back to San Jose on Nov 7th. If you do use the shuttle bus to San Juse on Nov 7th, it is included.
WHAT is NOT INCLUDED:
Dinner on Nov 1st and lunch on Nov 2nd
The retreat ends in the morning (before lunch) on Nov 7th. All meals after that are not included. If you choose to stay a few extra nights at the centre, please organize this with Lauren directly (firstname.lastname@example.org). Anything after breakfast on Nov 7th is not included.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Costa Rica is lush. You will get lots of sunshine, see beautiful sights and hear amazing sounds of nature. It is the end of rainy season so the waterfalls and rivers will be amazing for swimming. Expect that it could rain the afternoons or evenings. It is a place of peace and healing. The food is as fresh as it gets and the flavours will make you never want to leave. The air at the retreat centre is amazingly clean and when the wind is right you can smell the ylang ylang blossoms at night.
A typical day as part of The Sleep Retreat will look like this:
wake to the sun and sounds of nature
daily morning movement
some nights have an evening group meditation
In your free time at the ecolodge, we invite you to rest, read, relax in a hammock, go for a hike or play cards wit your new friends. Integrate what you have learned by relaxing in between. Destress.
WHAT TO PACK:
- summer gear: hat, bathing suits, clothing for warm weather
- refillable water bottle!
- clothes you can do some movement in like hiking, exercise, yoga
- good runners or hiking shoes
- good sandals (with straps is best)
- flashlight separate from your phone, a headlamp is good if you have one
- 1 or 2 long sleeve shirts incase it is cool in the evening
- travel sized umbrella
Soaps, shampoos and conditioners are provided at the lodge. We use only biodegradable products. You may bring your own if you like, but please choose something biodegradable that is safe for use in lakes and rivers. No perfumes please. We live in the jungle, please pack mindfully to not bring items that come in layers of packaging and create unnecessary garbage. Many thanks!
