Things to Know!
Utopia, Tx is an unincorporated town with a population around 500 people. What makes this location perfect for a retreat also makes it an hour and a half drive from the closest major airport, San Antonio International Airport, located 84 miles away. Transportation to and from the retreat is not provided, however I am happy to help coordinate possible ride sharing with other retreat guests, so that you end up spending less than an average car rental to and from.
These are your retreat co-hosts, Bo and Dandy Lion! They are Cane Corso/ English Mastiff quasi adult pups. They are very sweet girls with giant hearts and love meeting new people. I truly consider them my guardian angels! They offer special gifts and will be integral parts of the retreat experience. They are quite large however! So this is something to consider if you are not a dog person or are not comfortable around larger dogs. If you love dogs though, you are in for a treat, at no extra charge!
The retreat is located on an off-grid, minimalist homestead. Off-grid living can have several connotations, but just so you know, there is electricity, it's just all provided through a solar set up. Electricity is available in the main house for various needs, but not in the individual glamping casitas. The main house will be available to you 24/7 should you want to prepare a snack, or relax with a warm bath or shower at any point.

One minimal and sustainable feature is compost toileting, both in the house and in the outhouses near the casitas, another thing to consider before booking your stay.
As the saying goes, if you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait 20 minutes for it to change... The Fall and Spring have been chosen for their less extreme nature but you never know, so it's best to be prepared for both cool and warm clothing. The casitas are equipped for proper ventilation should it be warmer than expected and individual wood burning stoves should it be cooler than expected. Travel insurance is highly recommended in the event that unforeseen weather prevents the retreat from taking place.
The regular fair at the retreat will feature an epi-paleo diet, "epi" referring to epigenetics, meaning a combination of animal and plant based foods that follow the seasons as closely as possible. If you eat a plant-based diet, I am more than happy to accommodate for that, but that is something to consider in case that poses issues during communal meals and such.
